Red culture is the whole culture led by the Communist Party during the proletarian revolution and it doesn't end with the culture revolution. After Reform and Opening up, the face of contemporary Red culture has showed very diverse characteristics according to the complex relationships between the market and the power.Specifically, shows the political power adapt Red culture to meet market demand. But market and power are always conflict. The Public express their secular demand by red symbols in consumer society. On the other hand, Chongqing see Red culture as advanced culture and moral force, and try to restore its effect by "Changhong and Hitting".From the view of political legitimacy, economic ideology doesn't care the faith need of people, and the secular adaption of Red culture has damaged the authority of power. Chinese administration try to sacred history of the red through selective forgetting. However, this approach has been challenged by private memory of the Citizen and overestimated the effectiveness of ideology in open society. The reconstruction of political legitimacy in China is to be re-examine the role of ideology and grasp the democratic trend of legitimacy. From the view of national identity, the renaissance of red culture is closed related to globalization. Chinese government always attaches importance to its own role in protecting red culture. Tough Confucianism and red culture had been conflict in history, they live in harmony today, and the limitations made red culture can't become cultural resources of Chinese identity, which includes Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong. Therefore, today's Red culture is facing the double predicament of political legitimacy and national identity. In the long term, construction around the Red culture must be based on public reason, democracy and the rule of law.
