This research, takes Bao'an ethnic minority group for example, describes and explains the relationship between education and social mobility in ethnic areas. Essentially, what is discussed in this paper is the relationship between school and community, which is still the classical proposition in educational anthropology.There are three academic points on the relationship between education and social mobility, which involved that education promotes social mobility, maintains social reproduction and it is conditional that education accelerates social mobility. But, in the minority areas with backward economic, cultural and social capital, what the real relationship between education and social mobility is, whether education is the main way to achieve social mobility and social status change and what kind of people could transform their social status successfully by the minority areas education are still the issues we need to study. Therefore, this paper does some research on these problems and concludes the results. Additionally, as a summary, these issues are explained.Judging from the investigation, it is the education which is the only way to change the social status of Bao'an ethnic minority group. However, the existing problem is that there are only a very small number of successes and most of people end their educations in failure relatively. The author also notices that almost all the successes possess better family economy, cultural and social capital than the failures.On the other hand, this paper points out four obstacles in Bao'an education. Firstly, the disruption of national culture in school education and urbanization result in low academic achievements and low demand for education in ethnic areas. Secondly, dual education system in urban and rural areas and the unfair education situation among different regions are also the reasons why it is difficult for the students of northwest minority to be admitted to universities. Thirdly, the backward economic condition makes the most of families can not afford the expensive cost of higher education. Finally, the education quality is questioned because of the behindhand hardware and lower qualities of teachers.Additionally, due to the unsatisfactory education situation in ethnic areas, this paper develops four approaches, including re-orientation the education for ethnic minorities, changing the urbanization education pattern and striving as much as possible to promote the fairness of education in different regions, to improve the education status and enhance the quality of education, Changing concepts and developing Economic.
