Inter–ethnic politics rises across ethnology, sociology, politics and so on the various research fields in the last decades.It is the important content of the inter–ethnic relationship and develops from the process of the inter–ethnoic contacts.As a kind of inter–ethic interactive form,inter–ethnic politics has its own special nature and rich foems,including: it is the basic behavior subject of inter–ethnic politics;it resorts to political power;it involvs the fundamental interests of the nation;it associates with the certain ideology.The concrete forms of inter–ethnic politics include: inter–ethnic competition; inter–ethnic war; national plunder; national oppression; national separation;national unity; national cooperation, etc.The above specific forms of inter–ethic politics finally can be summed up into two basic forms: inter–ethnic conflicts and inter–ethnic cooperation.Malaysia is a c well-known ountry for its diversity in ethnic, culture and religion. Its political development is closely linked to ethnic relations in the country. The ethnic relations are the main problem in contemporary Malaysia, and mainly affect Malaysia's political development direction. In this paper, through the perspective of inter–ethno–national politics, the writer tries to study the political development path since the independence of Malaysia, and to reveal the unique political development path of Malaysia. It is based on the path of political development in Malaysia that helps us to understand whether Malaysia is going towards democracy or authority, or a dual characteristics combining democracy and authority.
