China's entry into WTO leads to a more internationalized home auto market, and a market with tougher competition as well. The key for any auto enterprise to survive such a competition is to implement proper competitive strategies so as to enhance its competitiveness. In the western countries, studies on competitive strategies have long been carried out and applied to business practice by many big companies; in China, however, relevant theories have not been known until 1990s, let alone their applying to business practice. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the domestic corporations to improve their knowledge of studies on competitive strategies.Compared with those multinational auto corporations, such as GM,VW, Toyota etc., who have entered China's home auto market and taken up 75 percent of the market share, China's local auto enterprises with short developmental history , such as Chery, Jili, Xiali, Zhonghua etc. are less competitive. To survive the tougher market competition , our local auto enterprises must adopt advanced competitive management strategies to guide their business practice.Being a local auto corp. of small and medium size, Chery Auto. Co. Ltd has experienced a hard taking-off and a dramatic soaring in the tough market setting of China's auto industry.
