The Ancestor Should Never Be Forgotten

Deng Xiaoping once had a clear-cut stand: "I am a Marxist .I have been following the basic principle of Marxism all the time" , Which has been proved by the fact. As a contemporary Chinese Marxist, Deng Xiaoping took note of studying the Marxism at different periods of our nation's revolution and construction. To the problem of what was Marxism, Deng Xiaoping had though and researched carefully, he had answered from three respects emphatically : Marxism is an ideological weapon of the proletariat; The quintessence of Marxism is to seek truth from facts; The Marxist basic principle is to develop the productivity. At the same time , he profoundly expounded the importance and urgency of studying Marxist theory. He said: "the ancestor should never be forgotten", because: Marxism is science ; it is a basic conclusion that we summarize historical experience for a long time; and modern socialist construction can not do without Marxist guidance. He had espically put emphasis on the scientific attitude and methodology of studying Marxist theory in the light of the experience and lessons in this respect of our party, and he had proposed scientific judgement that "studying Marxist-Leninist theory should be precise and affective". On developing Marxism , Deng Xiaoping thought that we should dared to propose new think that the ancestor had not proposed. It has important theoretical and practical significance to handhold correctly Deng Xiaoping's thought on studying Marxist-leninist theory, which is helpful to correct the style of studying of Marxism, draw the demarcation line between Marxism and non-Marxism, insist and develop Marxism, further deepen reforming and opening-up, push forward and build a great socialist practice with Chinese characteristis.
