Research On Competitiveness Of Dalian Port

Northeast Asia becomes a core region of international container transport when the world s shipping center is shifted from the Atlantic to the Pacific .During the development of container hub ports in northeast Asia, many ports are exerting their efforts to compete for a new international shipping center . As a main port in North China, Dalian port becomes to play a more and more important role in national economy and social development. The government has call for "making the best of resources of ports in northeast of China to build Dalian to a northeast Asia most important international centre". Dalian which has a advantage of port not only meets the challenge of northeast Asia port abroad but also the challenge from nationwide port around the Bohai Sea such as Qingdao and Tianjin. And Dalian how to win in the competition is the problem which must to solve in the building the international shipping centre.Comparing with other ports and in consideration of actuality of Dalian port development, Dalian want to be the international shipping centre will be confront with fierce competition, and enhance competitiveness of Dalian port have been put into agenda. On this occasion, through the study of port resource, we could draw a conclusion that many factors involved in the sluggish disposition, among which there are factors inside and factors outside. With the stability of the factors outside, it will be a better way to analyze the disadvantage and the advantage of Dalian port totally and improve the advantage, so that Dalian port can show itself in the fierce competition of Northeast Asia container ports.This thesis is striving to base on the total and systematic ideas. First, I analyze Dalian port's position, function, economy environments and competitive condition. Second, I use the target system model analyze the port competitiveness between Dalian, Qingdao and Tianjin, to find the cause of low competitiveness of Dalian port. At last, aim at solving the problem which finds from the model, suggesting the policy goal of Dalian port and also its step and means to reach the goal in a few years. Through the research on the present condition of these competitive advantages, the direction and the construction emphasis of the Dalian port sustainable development of future competitive advantages can be provided.
