The EIQ Analysis Method Of Order-Picking System Planning For Tobacco Distribution Center

Distribution center (DC) is developed to meet the demand of logistics optimization and market developing. DC is designed to achieve high-level sales and supply service through the process of organizing the goods and delivering the goods to the customers. Moreover DC provides a good solution to the conflict between the small and diversified demand of customers and the large and specialized supply of manufacturers. Therefore DC has become the key part in modern logistics system and the symbol of the modern logistics.Due to consumers' shifting their demand towards small batch and large category, the goods distributed by DC have increasing rapidly in terms of both category and quantity. The order-picking process holds larger and larger proportion in the DC work, which is becoming the most labor&time-taken process. The efficiency of order-picking task tends to take a direct effect on the efficiency of the whole task, economic benefits and service level. So the good design of order-picking system determines the success of the whole DC planning.The research in the DC system planning theory has made great progress in the fields of its subsystem such as hardware equipment and control communication. However, in the early period of planning, decision-makers tend to rely on their own experience because of the lack of effective and quantitative analysis tools. To solve the above question, this paper introduces a new kind of planning data analysis method: EIQ analytical method. And then this method is applied to some tobacoo DCs order-picking system planning. Structure of the paper is as follows:1. Summarize the current situation of DC and order-picking system in both reality and research area, and especially specify in historical review on the development of tobacoo DC and order-picking system planning.2. Briefly introduce the basic theories of DC and order-picking systemplanning, such as order-picking unit, work mode, order-picking information, order-picking strategy and order-picking equipment, etc.3. Summarize EIQ principle based on order-picking data from DCs system planning, and analyze the EQ/EN/IQ/IK/EIQ statistic charts and their corresponding design schemes. This paper applies EIQ analysis way in process of order-picking data from some tobacco DC, an effective order-picking system planning scheme is obtained. The experimental result shows EIQ analytical method has strong practical value, due to its advantage of achieving DCs order-picking system planning more accurately.The creative point of this paper lies in that EIQ analytical method is successfully applied to some tobacco DCs order-picking system planning, through supplying a quantitative intuitionistic effective analytical method to tobacco DCs order-picking system planning.
