The WTO dispute settlement mechanism is regarded as the "crown jewel of WTO", and it is a judicial system. Ensuring the implementation of recommendations and rulings by legal means is one of the key reasons why it is compulsive. Article 22 of DSU demonstrates the compulsive nature. It stemmed from article 23 of GATT1947, reformed the latter and formed a set of trade retaliation rules. But nearly 10 years' practices show that it still has flaws, leaving spaces of improvement. This thesis is divided into four chapters:Chapter 1 introduces the history of trade retaliation measures, the rules and aim of trade retaliation of G ATT;Chapter 2 studies trade retaliation rules of the WTO, compares it with trade retaliation rules of GATT, retaliation of general international law, the retaliation rules of Draft articles on Responsibility of States for internationally wrongful acts and discusses the relationship between WTO trade retaliation rules and "section 301 "of the Trade Act of 1974;Chapter 3 discusses some defects of WTO trade retaliation measures, introduces some improvement suggestions proposed by some WTO members and analyzes their feasibility;Chapter 4 discusses its influence on our country and puts forward some countermeasures.
