The problems arising from territory is often related to sovereignty, so compared with the problems in other fields of international relations, they are more difficult to be settled. The parties of the dispute on what country executes sovereignty over Nansha Islands are more than those of any other territory disputes. The interested parties include not only the member states of ASEAN, but also Japan and the United States. Therefore, it's doomed that to settle the problem of Nansha Islands' sovereignty shall be difficult and demand for much more intelligence. How to legally support China's sovereignty over Nansha Islands needs an immediate answer. This paper shall start its study and analysis of the territory dispute of Nansha Islands (Hereinafter referred to Nansha dispute) from the present conditions of Nansha disputes and international laws concerned, and shall focus on history and legal support for China's sovereignty over Nansha Islands. The history of international relations, politics, economy and military affairs shall be discussed together with some principles of economic resource zone, continental shell, history waters, preempt, state concession, estopple and adjacent territory, and this paper thus demonstrates that China has definite and excluding sovereignty over Nansha Islands and denounces other interested parties' fallacy in this regard. Furthermore, on the basis of the overall study and analysis, this paper tries to seek the methods to settle the disputes. In the final part of the paper, through the analysis of the present conditions of Nansha disputes and relevant international laws, the conclusions is reached that no matter what settlement is to be taken, Nansha Islands is under China's sovereignty. Of all the methods to settle the disputes, "lay down the dispute and seek for mutual development" respects the realities and complies with international laws.
