The present thesis makes a tentative study on the effects of ideas in China's diplomatic strategies from the perspective of Chinese and West thought. Much importance is attached to ideas in both Chinese and west thought. It is held that ideas are fundamental and important variables which can be used to interpret social behaviors. The author of the thesis maintains that ideas are core elements of diplomatic strategies which are determined by the essence that state-to-state communication is ideational interaction. The thesis analyses China's diplomatic ideas from the perspective of evolution, and holds that China's diplomatic ideas are dynamic cultural elements which are featured with Chinese characteristics, which are integrated into directive Marxism and excellent western idea results. After analyzing the representative diplomatic strategies since the 1980s, the author holds that ideas were, are and will be China's scientific guideline of diplomatic strategies and ideas continue to achieve magnificent results. Since ideas are significant in China's diplomatic strategies, the thesis constructs the advantages of China's diplomatic strategies on the basis of understanding it from the origin, keeping up with the times, and strategically coming down to earth, anticipating that it will give some suggestions for China's diplomatic success.
