The Regional Trade Agreement Under WTO System

This thesis begins with analyzing the quality of Regional Trade Agreement. Different from multilateral trade liberalization, in the Regional Trade Agreement, one country reduces trade barriers only for specific countries. According to the extent of reduction, Regional Trade Agreement is divided into five types. According to their political and economic condition, the members of Regional Trade Agreement negotiate to decide which type their Regional Trade Agreement adopts. With different type, the extent of releasing sovereignty is different. And then, this thesis discusses the current development condition of Regional Trade Agreement. Under current political and economic situation, countries'needs are different from the needs in the past to large extent. With these differences, Regional Trade Agreement comes into a new development phase. These new things are reflected by the changes of the quantity, member, type, favored fields of Regional Trade Agreement.The development of Regional Trade Agreement brings many positive effects. The effects are broad. Regional Trade Agreement not only influences economy but also influences politics and security of country. Concretely, Regional Trade Agreement advances the development of members'trade and economy, promotes members'economic reform and maintains members'security. At the same time, negative effects also come. In this aspect, this thesis mainly discusses the effect of trade transfer and the phenomena of large country controlling.On the basis of above discussing, this thesis emphasizes particularly on the conflict and harmony between regional trade system and multilateral trade system.
