After the Cold War, with some countries seeking nuclear weapons, crises assaulting the non-proliferation institutions have repeatedly taken place. In the aftermath of September 11 Event and especially the Iraqi War, Iran's nuclear issue has attracted world-wide attention, and also embodies a concentrated reflection of many problems in the international relations, especially in the bilateral ties between the United States and Iran. Iran stepped into the nuclear research field in the 1950s. Its nuclear program was supported by U.S.. After the Islamic Revolution, America's attitude toward Iran's nuclear program diverted from "for" to "against". The Islamic Revolution serves as the turning point in America's nuclear policy toward Iran. Iran's nuclear issue originates from the confrontation of their state regimes, the conflict of their hegemonic aims and the connection of their separate relations with Israel. The U.S. exerts great pressure on Iran with regard to its nuclear issue. Iran manages to launch a smart resort to America's pressure, and achieves some beneficial results. America's pressure is in the interests of safeguarding the non-proliferation institutions and the peace and stability in the Middle East as well. The double standard in America's Middle East non-proliferation policies arouses Iran's nuclear appetite. After the Cold War, the trend of unilateralism in U.S foreign policies becomes more and more outstanding, and America tends to use force more frequently. The United States poses a serious threat of use of force against Iran. The United States is believed with great possibility to solve Iran's nuclear issue by military force.
