Culture is an important concept in the study of the international relations. The specific ideology of a state has a great influence to its foreign affairs. Messianism is a considerable component of Russian national culture which issues from various social factors of which the crucial three parts are the intimate relationship between the Russian nationality and its religion, the special geographic position of Russia and the increase of the state power. With the evolution and the development of history, the modalities of Messianism have been transforming. Slavism, Grand Russianism and Euroasiaism are Messianist variants in Russia's different historical era.1945-1953 is the era when the Cold War bipolar configuration was gradually coming into being. Messianism played a great role in the Soviet's foreign policy during this period, especially in its relationship with East Europe and East Asia. In the Council of Mutual Economic Assistance(CMEA)and Soviet-Yugoslavia Issue, the Soviet Union showed a strong patriarchal behavior in East Europe, the Soviet's attitude to the Chinese Revolution and the Korean War implied its Messianism as well.A state's political culture has a complicated mutual relationship with its foreign policy. The study of circumstance in which the mutuality forms is of great importance. The international environment and the state power are the two significant variables which made Messianism influence the Soviet's foreign policy greatly. This influence once made the Soviet acquire brilliant achievements,however, it also brought the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The relevance of culture and international politics shows the fundamental denotation of the cultural variable in the study of the international relations...
