In ancient China, Female always was the sex which was dominated and coerced. But in traditional society, the degree of confine on female was varied. With the network of hierarchy being closed, feudalism organization principle was tight and perfect gradually. Song Dynasty was the mature period: The feudal system strengthened and economy developed, culture became orthodox and the feudal ethical code was perfect. Therefore, spiritual shacks on female were serious in this period. As for as the present research findings as a whole were concerned, articles about female social status in Song Dynasty were so few, not to say articles on women's civil law status. Although many academic achievements by some scholars involved in this subject, it was so few about this special research actually. Therefore it is necessary to study it further. On the basis of analyzing historical material and absorbing the research findings, the author studies women's civil law status in Song Dynasty and makes more objective statements. This thesis inspects social development situation and women's social status in Song Dynasty, discusses women's right in property as daughter, wife and mother separately in Song Dynasty and a special case about upper-class women's property right as a part, explores common women's personal right and upper-class women's personal right from the angle of social stratum, reveals that their social status descend in all-round compared with before, and analyzes the main reasons why women's civil law status declines in Song Dynasty, which include four sides: First, the father's right and husband's right intensity; secondly, the economy restrict the rise of women's civil law status; at last the feudal ethical code and social air are closed in Song Dynasty.
