Domestic violence is a global issue and draws much attention from the international community as a human rights matter. Since Beijing held the 4th World Conference on Women in 1995, China has laid much stress on the domestic violence issue. Nowadays, Chinese government calls upon people to follow out the Standpoint of Scientific Development and construct a harmonious society, it's highly significant to study and advance the public intervention of domestic violence in China. From the perspective of social gender, this thesis summarizes the general features of domestic violence, analyzes the status quo of China's domestic violence issue and the public intervention practices, draws on the experiences of Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries'anti-domestic violence measures, explores and puts forward the strategy of strengthening China's public intervention of domestic violence from the perspectives of legislation, judicature, public administration and social relief.This thesis consists of six parts. Part One introduces the subject matter, aim and significance of the study of public intervention of domestic violence; Part Two gives the author's definition of domestic violence, analyzes its causes and consequences and introduces the main contents and context of public intervention study; Part Three compares and evaluates the public intervention practices of the international community, different countries and regions and draws on the experiences of theirs; Part Four analyzes the status quo of China's domestic violence issue and the process and existing problems of the public intervention; Part Five puts forward the strategy of China's public intervention of domestic violence from the perspectives of legislation, judicature, public administration and social relief; Part Six reviews the upshot, attainment and insufficiency of this study and takes a look at the prospect of further study.
