Study On Crime Preventional Environmental Design

This thesis studied on the topic of crime preventional environmental design on both stands of the theory and practical implication. Firstly, it introduced the related theories of crime preventional environmental design including Jane Jacobs's theory of"eyes on the street", Oscar Newman's"defensible space"theory and CPTED theory which is also the key points of this thesis. Secondly, this thesis provided with some detailed procedures and design strategies in crime preventional environmental design which are the reference in the upcoming practical case study of environmental survey and improvements on bike theft on university campus in Shanghai. Finally, in light of the real situation of crime prevention in our country, the thesis put forward the necessity and feasibility of the introduction and application of crime preventional environmental design as a supplementary crime prevention method in China. Besides, the author also appealed to more research and practice of crime preventional environmental design on three different but inter-related levels of government, education and profession circle of landscape architecture.
