Study On The Domestic Shipping Oil Spill Damage Assessment Laws

In this article, based on a study of basic theory of oil spill damage assessment, concept of oil spill damage assessment and its content concerned are given. Personal opinions are offered with a comparative analysis made both on the law status of environment protection in China and on such regulations of USA and International Maritime Committee. Also, upon further analysis on the present oil spill damage assessment as to their strong points and weak points, suggestions are put forward on the improvement of assessment system, development of shipping industry and protection of marine environment in the meantime.
