To strive for international society's acknowledgement was the core issue of new China's diplomacy, as well as the arduous task for the new people's regime. During the early days of the foundation of People's Republic of China, the very historic environment made this acknowledgement look quite important but hard. Due to this, China's government launched a series of activities on the international stage to try for the acknowledgement. The CCP together with China's leaders fully exerted their talents for striving in the international world by putting firmness on principles and flexibility on policies together. And they also achieved remarkable effects on this acknowledgement issue. In a short time, new China realized the aim of trying for international acknowledgement, improved the image in international world, as well as heightened the international status, all of which not only prepared a well international environment for domestic economy's recovery and development, but also established a firm basic for all line's progressing in later time. This paper elaborates this issue from four aspects:Firstly, the international environment that new China faced. After World War II, the world structure was totally changed. It formed two camps as the peaceful and democratic camp leaded by USSR and the imperialistic camp leaded by USA. The fight of these two camps went fiercely. New China was just founded in such tough circumstance and inevitable faced those heavy pressures from international world. Leaded by USA, the western countries, who denied to accepting new China, took hostile and isolated policies. They attempted to snuff out China in its cradling by isolating its politics, blocking its economy and surrounding its military affairs. While, socialist state leaded by USSR and the democratic states in eastern Europe, who given new China diplomatic recognition in early times, sincerely expressed their friendship and support, which provided more favorable conditions for China to striving for international acknowledgement.Secondly, the countermeasures that China took to strive for international acknowledgement. During the process of striving for international acknowledgement, new China set the unwavering standpoint and adopted the flexible strategy."Common program"regulated the guiding principle and basic diplomatic point for new China to strive for international acknowledgment. According to current international circumstances, China's own position as well as the hardship that new China faced, leaders such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, raised a series of diplomatic policy after the foundation, to guide new China to achieve international acknowledgement. These policies are including"lean to one side", "start all over again"and"stand treat after cleaning the house". meanwhile, to socialist countries leaded by USSR, Chinese government adopted flexible strategies to directly establish diplomatic relations without negotiations, standing by socialist on it's own; to democratic countries, positively strived for the acknowledgement with the policy of establishing diplomatic relations after negotiation; and to western countries leaded by USA, who were be hostile to China, Chinese government took the leisure attitude for their acknowledgement. On international society, new China actively sought for new kind of international relationship and tried for more countries to support. All of these strategies and policies composed the basic framework for new China's diplomatic policy, which were also the basic policies for new China to strive for international acknowledgement at the first stage.Thirdly, the progress for new China's striving for international acknowledgement. New China launched a series of diplomatic activities to strive for international acknowledgement. Guiding by the reasonable diplomatic policies, in just a few month, Chinese government established formal diplomatic relationship with almost all the socialist countries (except Yugoslavia), some national independent countries as well as capitalist countries in northwest Europe. The establishment of diplomatic relationships with socialist countries has profound meanings on solidifying new China's power, recovering and developing domestic economy, achieving international acknowledgement and promoting mutual development. During the first period of foundation, although new China failed to establish normal diplomatic relationships with most of the capitalist countries, it expended the economic development and communication between two peoples, which provided the base for later well relationship.Fourthly, the experience and inspiration of new China's striving for international acknowledgment. Independence is the basic principle to deal with the international relationship, by persisting in which China has achieved innumerous success in diplomatic activities after its foundation. This principle has also become the magic weapon for our party to deal with international relationships. During the process of striving for international acknowledgement, new China separately treated different countries with different policies and gained friendship and support from Afro-Asian. This is really a precious experience for diplomacy. Also on foreign relationships, new China strictly separated political issue from economic issue. Although new China didn't hurry for the acknowledgement from western countries leaded by USA on regime issue, it took the flexible policy on economic issue to emphasize the importance of people's communication as well as economic intercourse. All of these not only provided more favorable international environment for new China's recovery and development, but also increased the process for new China to achieve international acknowledgment.
