John Stuart Mill is a famous modern British thinker.His thoughts deal with politics, economics, philosophy, logic, religion, ethics and other fields.Mill can never be neglected in the history of research on modern western political thoughts.John Stuart Mill was one of the founding thinkers of modern liberalism.Unlike those former liberals,Mill did not regard liberty as a political principle but rather a social principle, telling us that social tyranny was worse than political oppression. As a result, he granted a fresh meaning to liberty, and defined it as a legitimate use of social power, whose aim was to protect individual rights from any intervention by society and defend individuality and social diversity.The author considers that Mill has explained the problem of social liberty in a systematic way for the first time in history and pointed out that ideal liberty and individual independence constituted the inner contents. Thus enhancing the classical liberalism to a new height. Mill's discussion on ideal liberty reflects his firm liberal stand and has important modernity value.This article altogether divides into four parts. The first part is an introduction, which is the present situation of Mill's Liberalism research and the main structure of the article.The second part has thoroughly analyzed the reason why the Mill liberalism political thinking produces.and the primary summary of Mill's Liberalism. The third part is this article's key point.First has discussed the classical liberalism thought, and introduced Hobbes and Locke's liberalism thought briefly.Next from the freedom of thought and the discussion freedom, the individual origination, the personal limit which interfered with society's reasonable dividing line and the government and so on .The fourth part has outlined the important influence of Mill'sliberalism political thinking from four aspects.
