| By the end of the Emperor Han Wen being the king, the West Han Dynasty has been resting and building up strength for over 30 years since Liu Bang beats Xiang Yu and seizes the political power. Although the productive forces recovers a little, all kinds of social contradiction arises at the same time and it threatens the rule of central government gravely. Jia Yi has a keen insight into this situation and worries about it seriously. Based on summing up the lessons of the death of Qin Dynasty and studying the malpractice of the Huanglao Thought which has been pursued by rulers since the beginning of Han Dynasty , he advances his own political proposition, which concludes "Defending the Unity and Centralization", "People-as-foundation", "Ruling by 'Li'". Using both Confucianism and Legalism is basic feature of his political thought. He integrates Taoism Confucianism and Legalism. By narrating the relations of "Tao", "Xu" and "Shu" and the process which everything is created by Tao, Tao is put into effect in real society and its contents is demonstrated by Confucianism and Legalism. He finds the metaphysical basis—Tao for his political thought. So he sets up his political philosophy. The aim of Jia Yi's political philosophy wants to build a unity and harmonious country and make the society united and stable. Although many of his political propositions haven't been adopted by the Emperor Han Wen, it is proved right by the following periods. He has made a great contribution to the Han Dynasty. Following Xunzi, his advocating the political thought of Using both Li and Legalism provides a political model for the following rulers of Chinese society. His thought stresses the content of Confucian and has its own perfect system.His thought make effect of transition which is "from ruling country naturally to actively" and "from setting up thought disorderly to orderly" in the Han Dynasty. His efforts of stressing Confucian and blending all kinds of thought point out direction for Dong Zhongshu. In this sense,Jia Yi's thought is a key link in the course of "all kinds of thought blending to Confucian becoming dominant thought" in social thought.
