Studies On The China's Voluntary Work Under The Strategic Background Of Building Up The Harmonious Society

Currently, Chinese Socialist Modernization has stepped into a critical time. The 4th Plenary Session of the 16th Central Committee of the CPC set a tremendous and historical objective to build a Socialist Harmonious Society. In the new stage, series of questions have become a major subject of the research on the voluntary work. What can be called harmony? How can it be realized? What does the voluntary work mean to, and what historical mission does it shoulder under the strategic background of building up the Harmonious Society? And finally, how can the volunteers get themselves improved through the course?With a long history accumulation and huge demands from the society, though starts fairly late, China's voluntary work runs very fast and produces a lot of positive effects in the social, political, economic and other areas. At the same time, as a baby in China, voluntary work has also experienced difficulty and problems during the course of growing up.For these reasons, this thesis will elaborate on the relationship between voluntary work and the building of the Harmonious Society with the essential concepts of them at the beginning. And then, it will introduce the processes, contents and features of voluntary work in the developed countries. In the third part, it will, through the analysis of the mode of development and operation, variations, history and the body of Chinese voluntary work, summarize the achievements in social security, social harmony and progress, social economic performance, spiritual civilization and so on. Yet it will also outline the troubles experienced, such as, administrative system is not rational enough; organizational capability needs strengthening; a good operational mechanism has not taken shape; social foundation is not solid. Finally, the thesis suggests that the optimization of voluntary work system in China should be promoted soundly through four aspects: rationalization of administrative system, strengthening of organizational capability, forming of a good operational mechanism and the solidarity of social foundation.
