The Ethical Review Of The Western Communitarianism

With the establishment of China's market economy, the traditional values of people are strongly shocks, the personal interests is highlighted, the rights of the individual are highlighted and the personal responsibility are neglected, the phenomenon of interesting the individual interests and ignoring the collective interests are appeared. The Chinese people indifference to public affairs and the lack of public rational spirit because of the impact of the traditional family culture and the one-sided understanding of the collective. At this stage, there is a deviation of understanding the relationship between individual and collective, whether in the practice of life, or in theoretical research. Because of globalization, we need to know the importance of collective interests, the Western communitarianism give us the resources of enriching and improving collective values.Communitarianism is the latest achievements in the Western political philosophy, and the community is the basis and the starting point to sort out the relationship between the individual and the community, it elaborated the effects of the community environment and the cultural tradition of history, the freedoms and rights of person only can be recognized and realized in the community, its ethical connotations is rich extremely. Therefore, it is an important value to establish a sense of trust and responsibility in the community and recognise the shortcomings of Western individualism and collective values for promoting social harmony ,the focus is to give a reasonable position for personal freedom and rights. The purpose of this paper is to deepen the understanding of the relationship between the individual and the community, and enrich the connotation of the socialist collective values, and further promote socialist political civilization and spiritual civilization construction.The thesis expatiates on the community's thinking from the perspective of ethics , it is divided into four parts, as follows:Part 1: The content, characteristics and history of the communitarianism. First, it described the community's character and the history from the core meaning of the concept of the community. Communitarianism is the latest development in the contemporary Western political philosophy ,it can go back in the period of ancient Greece of the Aristotle .It develops and establish its own complete theoretical system, in the 80`s last century.Part II: The ethical thinking of the communitarianism. Relying on the basis of the community and individual responsibility, it should be tied and reunificated mutually their personal interests , their personal rights ,freedoms and maintain social stability that in order to protect human society harmonious and stable development, correctly handle the relationship between the individual and the community, so it puts forward the ethics thinking of"groups priority self ", "good precedence the rights of the individual" and "the public interest priority personal interests".Part III: The assessment of ethical thinking of the Communitarianism. With the establishment of China market economy, it shows the one-side understand between personal and social, personal interests and the public interest, it is to timely correct the deviation of the ideas and concepts. Application of Marxist dialectical materialism, it evaluates the ethical thinking about groups priority self ", "good precedence the rights of the individual" and "the public interest priority personal interests". Gives their negative and the positive role, it is the specified road to correctly handle the contradictions and problems for us in the reform and opening up.Part IV: The learning of ethical thinking of the Communitarianism for the development of China today. Since the reform and opening up in China, with the development of market economy, the improvement of social freedom, the constant publicity of individual's subjectivity, with the growth of individualism , personal interests had been prominented. At the same time, the collective responsibility and collective interests have been ignored, Communitarianism are an important reference for us to correctly identify the defects of the Western mainstream consciousnes and to build a harmonious society and the correct values of the collective.In this paper, applying the Marxist materialist dialectics and historical methodology, especialy the theory of that social production decide the relations of production ,it further clarifies the relationship between the individual and the community, so that people realize that the community is not above personal interests unconditionally ,it protected fully the interests of individuals to safe the interests of the community, it is not antagonistic the right of self-concept. Both of the ideological and ethical values, Communitarianism is an important reference to handle correctly the relationship between individual interests and collective interests, the market economy in China under the conditions of of the rich and perfect the socialist system of collective values.
