Democracy Equality And Liberty In Study Of Tocqueville's Political Thoughts

Alexis de Tocqueville had unique inspiration that Modernity was the very motive behind French Revolution in 1798 and the sticking point of Modernity itself which is defined by me as Multi-leveled Democracy.The later development of western society confirmed the non-stop characteristic of democracy,so the ideologists appeal to and study him intensively again and again.I always believe that the true value of Tocqueville's thought rooted in the fact that the thought itself is an abundant historical theoretical resource,which anyone could manage to appeal to for his own sake.As for economic reform goes deeper and deeper,transitional problems become outstanding faced by every fields of Chinese society,with the task of how to find Chinese own way of democratization.Therefore,theoretically or practically,reading and understanding of Tocqueville becomes pressing.Perhaps we could use Chinese classical political philosophy language to summarize Tocqueville's core tuition.Please value virtues, advocate civilization,and improve customs.People should hold together,trust each other,and have their awes and love.To speak with more details,this dissertation will unfold as follows.The first chapter tells the justice of democracy in Tocqueville's thoughts,followed by the second and third chapter discussing the two characteristics of democracy,equality and liberty, with each part the two plays in Tocqueville's thoughts.Keynoted as American Exception,the forth chapter analyzes Tocqueville's thoughts of which chief source was American democracy. In the last but the most essential chapter,the democratic thoughts of Tocqueville's is summarized as Multi-leveled Democracy by which the former fore parts are combed logically.Moreover,the prelude of the book Democracy in America had already told us that the human nature of democratic society differs sharply from the one in aristocratism.New passion and desire foster and master the soul of democratic society.Hence,I run the analysis of soul of democratic society through the dissertation from the beginning to the end.
