On September 8, 1954, Southeast Asian collective defense treaty was signed by the United States, Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines and Pakistan in Manila, and then the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) was established by that. It was a political and military organization. It was an important part of the United States in the 1950s established the "socialist camp" of the West Pacific collective defense system in the Southeast Asian region,and it was an important tool that Thailand, the Philippines, and other state-owned enterprises Figure Union tried to stay the consolidation of domestic political power in the Cold War collective security ,it was useful to suppress the domestic opposition mainly by the Communist Party.This text is divided into four chapters ,Chapter 1 is a more detailed description of the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization in the context of the Cold War, it is the United States the global Cold War strategic , but also the Southeast Asian region country's needs; Chapter II detailed inspection of the agreement signed (Manila Agreement) to the building of organizations, as well as its economic, social and cultural aspects of the role, to a more comprehensive understanding of the collective defense group. Chapter III study focused on the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization in the local crisis in the Cold War and the performance of the role, and reveals the changes in the organization of the environment can not achieve its original goal ,the internal inconsistencies weak is an important reason. Chapter IV is from the pattern of changes in the global and regional situation changes, two aspects of the rigid inspection.
