Study On The Role The Government Plays In Constructing Social Justice

Since reform and opening up, China has made tremendous achievements in economic construction; at the same time, all kinds of social inequity have also appeared: inequality between the urban areas and the rural ones, between regions, between trades; inequality in the distribution of educational resources, in the rights of medical sanitation, in the rights of employment, and the like. Therefore, it is essential and also urgent to find a solution to the problem.On the basis of interpreting the related conceptions about social justice, this thesis first introduces the status quos of social inequality during the transitional period, and then explores the causes for the social inequality. It is therefore suggested that the government play the vital role among the initiators to push forward the construction of social equality, as a result of the limitations of the market and third-party departments and advantages of the government as well. In this case, more attention should be paid to constructing social justice and steps taken to bring into play the government's leading role. The government should speed up its transformation from the directive image into the service-oriented one through establishing a government of responsibility, nomocracy and incorruption. At the same time, it should take a series of policies to eliminate the inequality in income distribution, the inequality between the urban areas and the rural ones, and the inequality in education, medical care and employment. The government should also lead the third-party departments to participate in the undertaking and help them play a better part in building social equality.
