Recently years, the study on consumer's right to know has been concerned in law field. Relate discussions widely developing. The right has characteristic of the right to know, which belongs to social rights to know and is the basic right of rights to know of consumers. The right is originated from the commitment of telling in debt law, and is developing in the merging of public law and private law. So it has the quality of social right.There are legal rules of consumer's right of being informed, but they are just brief. Academically compositing didn't write much about this kind of right. There is almost no technicality writing in the scope. Some scholars wrote this right in the areal of consumer's right, but no one has gone deep into the thesis such as the reason of the consumer's right of being informed ,the relation between the spread of information and this kind of right ,and so on.This article utilizes the realistic method, comparative method, value judgment method, induction method etc. to analyze and discourse on the theory and the present legal protection situation of the consumer's right to know from different sides. The author suggests some improvements in the system and hopes it will have certain referenced in the future.This article could be divided into four major parts:The first part is the general theory of consumer's right to know. The author begins with the analysis of the birth background of the right, provides historical arguments to prove the existence of consumer's right to know is reasonable; afterword, the author elaborates the definition and the characteristic of consumer's right to know and show the special attribute of the right; Through comparison with other consumer's rights ,the author makes a conclusion that the consumer's right to know occupies a fundamental and relative independent position in the system of consumer's rights.The second part is analysis the reason of the consumer's right to know. The prime reason lies in the asymmetrical information between the consumers and the proprietors.The third part is analysis on existing legal protection system of consumer's right to know. The author inspects the overseas legislations and indicates their merits worthy of emulating. At the same time, the author analyzes the main content and chief defects of present protection law for the consumer's right to know in our country, to lay the groundwork for finding a way to amend the law.The fourth part is the investigation on the realization and remedy system of the right to know of consumers. Taking the changing information in commerce as the cutting point, author concludes the ways of consumer's owning full information of consumer and gives the suggestion on the perfection of relative systems in this part. Then author studies the system of giving effective consumer's information.
