The United States which plays a leading role of software industry all of the world attaches more importance to the Intellectual property protection of computer software. Copyright registration for computer software is one of the emphasis.The investigation of this thesis bases on a comparative study on the copyright registration for computer software in China and USA.With the presentation of legislation and process on copyright registration for computer software in China, this thesis summarizes the characteristics of copyright registration for computer software of our country.By introducting relevant status of USA,and analyzing on the latest legislative developments in USA,the paper discusses the bright spots on copyright registration for computer software in details,then, make an analysis of the features in copyright registration for computer program system in USA.Basing on this, this paper compares the samenesses and differences in the fields of copyright registration system between the two countries and analyzes the respective advantages and limitations.According to the current development status of software industry in China, this thesis estimates the deficiencies in our censorship,the relationship between registration and market access ,and legistration. On the bases of mentioned above, this thesis, goes further, claiming that we can take some measures to make up for these shortcomings and reduce environmental risks to local software plans,such as, adopting preregistration system,perfecting appllication form,taking mandatory deposit,and acknowledging several court rulings which are binding precedents across China,ect.
