Authoritarianism,as a political form,is the existence of third world countries after the war.As a transition between totalitarian system of government and the Liberal tradition of democracy,its existence is reasonable and inevitable.Southeast Asian countries and regions have their own economic,political,cultural,social and other conditions.These have a profound impact on the emergence and the existence of authoritarian regimes:the long-term colonial history and the backward state of the economy have provided the legal foundation for the formation of political authority; Confucian culture provided ideology support for the consolidation of authoritarian political;the lack of social classes formed a unique concentration of power,one-party dominant condition.Authoritarianism has played an important role in the initial stage of development of the emerging countries indeed,but with the deepening of the democratization process, the disadvantages of the authoritarian regime gradually exposed.Excessive concentration of power,lack of freedom and democracy in Southeast Asia will inevitably lead to democratic transition.Transition problems provided useful lessons and profound lessons for the future of democratization in developing countries. This article includes six parts.The first part is the introduction,describes the origin,significance and methods of the research for this subject,the current study at home and abroad.Otherwise,defines related concepts.The second part prepares the authoritarian regime with a totalitarian regime and a democratic form of government and the comparison to define the concept of the authoritarian system of government.The third part from the historical,political,economic,and cultural fields analyzes the causes of South-East Asia's authoritarian political.The fourth part uses a large number of historical data,explains the authoritarian politics of Southeast Asia type and characteristics of detail.The fifth part discusses the political transformation of South-East Asia authoritarian regime and the patterns.The sixth part analyzes the problems in transition of authoritarian regime in Southeast Asia and the other developing countries learn from the process of democratization.The democratization of the authoritarian system of government is inevitable,but the way must to be in accordance with their national conditions.
