On the basis of the academic achievements got by the former scholars and according to the materials of ancient writing as well as all the ancient books and record, this article studies a series of Chinese characters used in the law and tries to explain the Chinese ancient legal culture from the angel of exegetics.The legal words in this article includes those words whose original meanings show the legal meanings, as well as those words whose original meanings don't show the legal meaning but the extended meanings are related to the ancient legal activities. The information in"shuowenjiezi"has provided us with valuable information on ancient society, Text and vocabulary is the carrier of culture, we could understand the penal system by the research of this book ,and the concept of the ancient law and culture.chapter one ,we confirm,exam and classify the legal words according to the meaning of word or act, The legal characters divided into the following eight categories: The form of law, the penalty name, pardon system, the trial judgement, the tool of arrest and detention , prisons, crime and criminals, law enforcement and law enforcement locations.From the perspective of Critical Interpretation of Ancient Texts ,we introduce the legal words and the briefing on Chinese ancient knowledge of the law at the same time ,classify the penal institution.
