| The topic of citizenship education has never disappeared in the history of civilization; however, the disharmonious relations between cultural differences have been drawing the public's attention with the continuous development of civilization and prosperous culture. Culture is a very broad concept, for the cultural difference originates the human history development and the concept of multiculturalism relies on the self-awakening of national consciousness. Nowadays, the world people live in is not the single culture but coexistent multiple cultures; in the era of multiculturalism, citizenship education is not limited to the culture study of each nationality but learning and absorbing the other countries and nations' cultures on that basis. Therefore, the aim of the citizenship education is to cultivate the citizen with the world perspective instead of the man identifying with their own country. Only in this way won't the harmonious world be empty talk.Hence, the thesis includes five parts:The first part, first of all, I has formulated the concepts and phases of citizenship education. After elaborating its concepts and quality, the citizenship education is divided into liberalism, republicanism, newly-liberalism, communitarianism and multiculturalism four phases then concluding of the problems in 20th century.In the second part, I have analyzed the connation and characteristics of education in detail, attempting to discover the value and advocating of citizenship education in the era of multiculturalism.In the third part, I have discussed the contents and goals of civic education in the era of multiculturalism, on which basis the conclusion is drawn that the multiculturalism and citizenship education will integrate each other.In the fourth part, I have developed it from the perspective of practice and explored it with three teaching cases: community citizenship education, "the world civilization" and "the multiculturalism" and case-study method of teaching.In the final part, I have expounded the reflection of citizenship education reform in our country and mentioned the innovative points on the basis of history and experience of the citizenship education reform in our country. |
