Understanding And Practice Of Lao People's Revolutionary Party About Socialism

Lao People's Revolutionary Party is the ruling party of Lao People's Democratic Republic --- one of the five existing socialist countries. It has been advocating for socialism since its establishment. Lao People's Revolutionary Party has consistently taking its exploration and practice to Lao's socialism for more than 30 years since the founding of Lao People's Democratic Republic and the achievement directly reflects its realization to socialism. Lao People's Revolutionary Party has gone through these following stages: the resistance against French colony and American colony, the transition to socialism blindly, the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe to Tempestuous Change,the Innovation and Opening Period, and the Economic Crisis in Southeast Asia. In the new century, Lao People's Revolutionary Party's realization and practice to socialism embody its developments: grow from nothing to something, from weak and small to powerful and large, from a revolutionary Party to the ruling Party, from copying blindly to seeking truth from facts, from seclusion to innovation and opening, and from over-dependence to mature development. This paper explores the measures and policies to promote the Socialist Construction stages based on each special historical stage the Lao People's Revolutionary Party underwent and the main line of the Eighth Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. The paper makes a scientific summary on the theoretical analysis on its understanding and practice of Socialism and a theoretical analysis on how the Lao People's Revolutionary Party combined the basic principles of Marxism with the national conditions and led the whole party and the nation to establish a socialist country with characteristics of Lao People's Democratic Republic, which will offer precious experience for Chinese Socialist Construction.
