The Study Of The Position And Role Of Ideological Emancipation In The Development Of Socialism With Chinese Characteristics

In general sense, ideological emancipation means breaking through hedging-in tradition, and reforming ideology and mode of thinking to achieve the unity of thought and reality as well as the unity of subjectivity and objectivity. In the context of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics, ideological emancipation means breaking free from rigid conventions and subjective prejudice to solve new problems according to new situations. Ideological emancipation is a philosophical proposition including materialism, epistemology and dialectics. Its philosophical basis is the unity of matter, the dialectical materialist theory of knowledge and the dialectical materialist outlook of development. Ideological emancipation is an essential requirement of our Party's thought line, and also a prerequisite to seeking truth from facts. Ideological emancipation is a powerful weapon to develop socialism with Chinese characteristics; it is a prerequisite to building socialism with Chinese characteristics; it is a line running through the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics; it is the theoretical premise to forming and developing the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Due to the special national conditions of our country, it is especially significant to emancipate ideology so as to put Marxism into practice in China, and build socialism with Chinese characteristics. In order to emancipate ideology, we must stick to the Four Basic Principles and seeking truth from facts; we must have an acute consciousness of knowledge, courage, insight and a democratic style of work. In the new phase of the new century, we must continue to emancipate ideology and create new prospects for socialism with Chinese characteristics.
