Research On Saint-Simon's Harmonious Social Thought

Saint-Simon Claude Henri[France] was a great socialist in the early 18～19th century. He made a violent attack on the malpractice in capitalist society, from cruel exploitation and inhuman oppression in capitalist society he proposed an equality, fair, and harmonious future ideal society pattern. The theoretic foundations of the harmonious socialist system that he designed was his own rich life experience a, deep effect from west historical traditional harmonious thought and profound sentiment on that society. Future harmonious society, he thought, should have such characteristics as follows:unified socialized mass production; democracy and equality; free development; favorable custom and morality; recognition to difference in distribution; exaltation in social common welfare and so on. To make harmonious social idea come true,he raised such claims and demands as:to realize democracy and put forward demands on reasonable politics and equality; to criticize corruption and build honest government; to respect knowledge and talent; to set aside sufficient fund and develop education by nation; to use religion to push social progress and harmony; to have good social security and so on. In Saint-Simon's harmonious social thought there were many views and ideas that were main content of utopian socialism. Saint-Simon insisted on these theses with great determination and enthusiasm, which played a great role on training progressives to accept the thought of socialism. With the limitation of historical condition and his own knowledge, his harmonious social thought has inevitable historical limitations. while some progressive thought in history all has its everlasting value, and to comb and excavate Saint-Simon's harmonious social thought has a great reference on nowadays harmonious society' construction in China.
