A Demonstration Research On Thanks-giving Education Of Contemporary College Students

The spirit of thanks-giving, as the core of the five-thousand-years'Chinese traditional culture, needs to be inherited and promoted by all of the people. Therefore, the education of thanks-giving plays a key role in teaching morality in universities, and also constitutes an important part in the high quality-oriented higher education. The long preference on the level of academic education to the moral state gradually alarms many academics in parts of the universities, but they do not pay attention to the part of thanks-giving. Recently, there is news about the unawareness of giving thanks to others among the college students. These information, evidently, prove that there are college students who do not know or realize the importance of thanks-giving. Thus, there comes the thanks-giving education study with the need of the development of the society. Thus teachers can nurture a sense of thanks-giving for the students, which can make a complete character, develop their lives, construct a harmonious campus and above all, form into a stable and prosperous society.As for the present situation of the education of thanks-giving home and abroad, among the limited achievements have been made by scholars, most of them are put emphasis on presenting the phenomenon, but there is no paper to give a deep investigation with factual matters though most of experts care about this subject. This paper, under such a special background, searches for the predecessors'results and makes an overthrough and profound study through a combination of ways to make up this academic blank. These ways include reading materials,answering questionnaires,interviewing related persons,and so on. By ways of questionnaire-answering on the Internet and in classrooms, I get a result of the present situation of the college students and their attitude towards thanks-giving education. The interviews help me to understand parents and teachers'opinions about this subject. Based on all the data, I make a further analysis of the reasons which affect the thanks-giving education and the students'consciousness, with the hope of the acceptance of a more thorough and objective understanding for the contemporary students'thanks-giving education and other related questions. Through 470 questionnaires and 15 interviews,researcher have reached the following conclusions: The contemporary college students'consciousness of thanks-giving are lack ; Thanks-giving education efforts of the contemporary college students are not enough; The contemporary college Students' thanks-giving objects from the aptitude of individual to social change; The contemporary college students attributed to objective factors of thanks-giving.Finally, this paper gives some countermeasures and suggestions to some problems, and strengthens the efficiency of the thanks-giving education in college students. The author thinks that it necessary to take a positive reflection on the blank of thanks-giving education. Four steps are needed in the educating. First, we should strengthen its importance; then we should enlarge its content; third, we should have creative methods. And last, we should encourage the students'self-learning on thanks-giving.
