Now it is common that teachers gives a topic and then corrects students'writings in English writing teaching. And teachers hardly ever train students how to achieve writing skills. So it is not rare that students are weak in writing.This paper aims to apply schema theory to junior English writing teaching. Through the analysis of the characteristics of schema theory, it draws the elements which are beneficial to English writing teaching. Combining junior English textbooks with real English writing classes, it tries to optimize the teaching methods of content and form in English writing teaching:how to enrich students' form schemata and language schemata. Comparing with traditional English writing teaching emphasis on the teaching of words, sentences and grammars grammar, this paper focuses on text teaching.In order to improve students' abilities of composing different ingredients of a composition and clearly expressing their ideas, an experimental research of schema theory teaching in junior English writing is conducted. The paper finally concludes that schema theory teaching is effective in English writing.This paper consists of five chapters:Chapter One analyzes actuality of English writing teaching in middle school, refers to middle school English writing teaching, and puts forward the reason, the aim and the thoughts of the research.Chapter Two briefly introduces schema theory and reviews the researches concerning schema and language teaching including writing teaching at home and abroad.Chapter Three shows how to combine the writing teaching with the schema theory and elaborates how to apply schema theory in English writing teaching from three aspects: the content of writing teaching; emphasis on writing teaching and teaching procedure.Chapter Four expatiates the experiment and makes quantitative analysis and comparisons of schema writing teaching and traditional writing teaching in detail. In the course it shows schema writing teaching is effective.Chapter Five draws the conclusion and points out the demerits in this paper as well as what should be done in further research.
