The schema theory has been widely applied in both reading comprehension and listening comprehension in foreign language teaching. However, schema theory in foreign language writing teaching is sparse, especially in senior middle school students' English writing.This paper tries to describe how to apply schema theory to senior English writing teaching and to draw the elements which are beneficial to English writing teaching through the analysis of the characteristics of schema theory. Combining senior English textbooks with real English writing classes, it tries to optimize the teaching methods of content and form in English writing teaching through three aspects: how to enrich students'content schemata, form schemata and language schemata. Traditional English classes of writing emphasize the teaching of words, sentences and grammars while in this paper the form of English writing teaching focuses on text teaching, so as to improve students' abilities of composing different ingredients of a composition and clearly expressing their ideas. Concrete teaching procedure will be carried out in senior English writing classes: firstly, activating the relevant schemata in students' mind; secondly, building up the new schemata; Thirdly, consolidate the schemata. This kind of teaching form will make four interactive stages of writing teaching [Collecting—Planning(Conceiving)—Transfering(Composing)—Editing] a circulative and dynamic teaching procedure which may promote our teaching in reading, listening and oral English. The writer of this paper aims to find an all-around writing teaching method which is more concrete, easier to operate in guiding and revising students' English writing for teachers. And for students, it tries to help overcome students'scare in English writing, cultivate the right way of thinking in writing an English composition, accumulate students' knowledge about the world, and enrich their knowledge of writing English compositions.This paper consists of six chapters:...
