With the development of football, the continuous improvement of football philosophy, and the constant reinforcement of speed and strength in football matches, the race formation in the competition is no longer the most important. Instead, it is how to maintain the overall formation and how to maintain and expand the defensive zone that is essential. In modern football matches, fouls are no longer for the defensive players'exclusive use, either. In order to obtain the maximum benefit, offensive players in the fierce competition can also cause a lot of fouls by making active use of body confrontation. The fouls of whether defensive or offensive players have shown a strong aggression. Fouls in different fields caused by players in different positions indicate different tactic meanings. For coaches and players, it is necessary to clearly point out in the competition which is worth to promote and what is needed to resolutely oppose, which is significant to the enhancement of the tactical consciousness and defensive tactical intercept capabilities of the players. In today's fierce confrontation in the football matches, each foul play of the player may be an important factor which affects the result of the match. Therefore, fouls in the football matches has become a new factor that attracts much attention of coaches, players and referees.By using documentary data method, mathematical statistics method, video observation method, logical analysis and so on, this thesis makes a comparative analysis of the 2008 UEFA European Championship and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Foul features and draws the conclusion:(1) by making a comprehensive survey, the top eight teams'fouls were all less than last eight teams', however, there was no significant difference, which indicates that fouls have nothing to do with the team's performance. There are no such phenomena as good performance with less fouls and bad performance with more fouls; in the elimination matches and group matches, there were no significant differences in fouls per game. There are no such phenomena as elimination matches with more fouls and group matches with less fouls. (2) Foul fields in UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup mainly concentrated in the midfield area, where UEFA European Championship's foul fields is mainly the wings of the midfield area, while in FIFA World Cup players are focused on the defense of the middle. In the matches, fouls in front court are more than those in back court. In the very beginning when the counterpart launches an attack in front court, players make active defense. To some degree, fouls in front court show some tactical value, and reflect in the two sessions, players possess good tactical awareness and tactical ability.(3)the basic way of foul play of players in these two sessions were mainly to pull, to push, to block, to kick, to wrestle, and to collide, and fouls of upper limb obviously were more than those of lower limb. To pull was the most popular way in t UEFA European Championship, while in FIFA World Cup to kick was the most popular way.(4)In both UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup, the midfield of front court was the area where players made the most offside fouls. In FIFA World Cup, the offside fouls focused on the last 15 minutes of the whole match, while in UEFA European Championship they focused on the last fifteen minutes of the first half of the match. By contacting with the background of score, a general rule can be drawn: When the scores of two were closer, there were more offside fouls, and with widening of the score gap, the number of offside showed a descending trend.(5) the average fouls number in UEFA European Championship were more than the average number of FIFA World Cup, and there were significant differences, which indicates that in UEFA European Championship, the fast-paced matches caused physical contact between players more frequent and the competition more intense.(6) both in UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup, fouls in the background of different scores had such feature as closer score with more fouls. And fouls numbers reached its peak in the case of a tie. Fouls number of the backward team in the score was slightly higher the leading team in the score.(7) in two cups, the production of red and yellow cards concentrated in midfield area. Back court took the second place. Front court was the last one. In all the yellow cards, most of them were shown to the lower limbs, then were to the upper limbs, and then were to the body parts fouls. In addition, in the two Cup, red and yellow cards caused by dangerous play or penalty disobedience were about a fifth of the total, indicating that modern football is moving towards a more strict and healthy direction.
