In January 2006,the National Science and Technology Conference had been held which deployed that Long-term Scientific and Technological Development(2006-2020). Independent innovation as the main line runs through the "Plan" the whole chapter. In the new historical conditions, enhancing independent innovation capability, is considered the main melody of times.The key the Improve the capability of independent innovation is talent and education. It is hard to come ture that fostering an innovative spirit and practical ability to rely solely on existing classroom teaching. Extra-curricular activities of school education is an important way Which have own value in stimulating students'learning interests, expanding the field of student activities to link between students and society closely, and fostering the spirit of innovation and practical ability. For Today's education in school, extra-curricular activities are also on marginalized status, whose own subjectivity and independence have not been given the enough attention.The study argues extra-curricular activities should be independent out of classroom teaching, is the same status with teaching in school education system. Therefore, this study based on the social background of the era of independent innovation to explore the independent value of extra-curricular activities.The article is divided into five parts:Partâ… :Introduction. Partâ…¡:Definition and foundation of the research.The concept of extra-curricular activities were analyzed and defined, and describes the role and historical development of extra-curricular activities, historical development, stated the theoretical basis of the writing, including philosophical foundation, psychology and education.Partâ…¢:discusses the practical form of extra-curricular activities.Extra-curricular activities in accordance with the content and quality of the student's ability to develop the role of different organizations,at present, extra-curricular activities in school can be divided into moral education classes, extracurricular activities, technology classes, extracurricular activities and sports extra-curricular arts activities.
