Because of the development of globalization, English become more and more important in International exchange and cooperation. As a result, English education has drawn great attention of Chinese Government. Language researchers and teachers believe that English learning anxiety has a big affect on English learning. However, researches on English learning anxiety are mostly focused on English speaking anxiety. During the studies on English writing anxiety, the objects are basically college students and higher vocational school students, studies on the English writing anxiety of middle school students are rare. Middle school is the beginning of English writing, so the study on the influence of English writing anxiety is necessary.This study, based on the inductive of related literature on Foreign Language Anxiety, used all the students of Shanghai Shidai Middle School as objects, aims to investigate the current English writing anxiety of middle school students. Based on the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale and the current of middle school students, the author made the questionnaires about English writing anxiety of middle school students in order to know the current English writing anxiety of middle school students, different influences of different factors on English writing and the differences of English writing anxiety on gender and grades. According to the data statistics and descriptive analysis, the author drew the following conclusions:1. most students wish to improve their English writing; 2. the general level of English writing anxiety of middle school students are not high; 3. different factors of English writing anxiety have different influences on English writing; 4. English writing anxiety are different because of gender and grades. As to improve English writing, the author provides some relevant strategies, such as change the teaching conception, use varied writing teaching and evaluation mode, etc.
