Parks, squares, etc are important types of urban public space, bearing the deep collective memory and the variety of social life of urban residents. These can be even considered as essential places for the urban residents in their daily lives. In the process of rapid urbanization, parks and squares are important to mitigation the loss of public life, indifferent of social relationships and foster the concept of public life, harmonious the interpersonal relationships.In the view of most of researches on parks are done from an architectural perspective. This paper takes a sociology perspective, focus on the interaction of people and their social relations within the space.In the context of rapid changes which happened in the urban spatial structure and living environment, the social space perspective which is a combination of the interaction of people and space has been preferred by urban researchers. They uphold Lefebvre's idea, which regards space as a social product. They attempt to study various spaces in order to find the functions of these spaces in people's social life.Using the social space perspective this paper examines the Uprising Cultural Park, which is very memorable and valuable in Wuhan People's history and real life. By observing the forces which caused the park converted and the users of the park formed what type of relationship. It analysis the process of a park transformed from a pubic space into a social space which is full of significance. Trying to further the exploring of how parks playing an important role in urban life and social development.First of all, this study considers, at the background of rapid changes of urbanization and people's life styles, a combination contributed to the construction and reconstruction of the Uprising Cultural Park, which includes the planning of government, the participation of public and the promotion of both history and culture. Secondly, the park do not only provide a public recreation area for people, but also commitment a variety of social functions in public life, it can connect the people who have different identity, status, cultural background, this relationships infiltrate in aspects of people's social life, and it provides support to people. All of it made the park into a social space which generates complicated social relations. Thirdly, public spaces, like parks and squares, became an integral part of modern urban life. A suitable space environment is helpful to foster a lively social life, create the conditions for people to ease their loneliness, indifferent and conflicts in the process of urbanization.
