Investigation Of The Family Function And Marital Quality Of Nursing Staff

Objective To explore the situation of family function and marital quality of nursing staff in Tangshan and the influencing factors so as to provide basis for scientific supports and interventions.Methods1 Totally 1170 married nursing staff (from ten hospital including the Affiliated of North China Coal Medical College, the Gongren Hospital of Tangshan, KaiLuan Hospital,the People Hospital, the Steel Hospital of Tangshan, Department of Orthopaedics Hospital, Lazaret Hospital, Tang Jia-Zhuang Hospital, Zhao Jia-zhuang Hospital, Fan Ge-zhuang Hospital)were carried on the investigation adopting cluster sampling method. The ten hospital mentioned above contain 3 hospitals In grade A, 2 hospitals in grade B, 2 special hospital, 3 mining district hospitals.2 Questionnaire:(1)general state of schedule table of nursing personnel including age, professional title, culture degree, department, the grade of hospital, nature hospital;(2)Family Assessment Device: there were 7 dimensionalities including Problem Solving, Communication, Roles, Affective Responsiveness, Affective Involvement, Behavior Control, General Function;(3)Olson Marriage Quality Questionnaire (ENRICH): there were 12 dimensionalities including Excessive Idealization, Marriage Satisfaction, Character Compatibility, Communications of Husband and Wife, Ways of Solving Conflict, Arrangement of Incomes, Recreational Activities, Sex Life, Children and Marriage, Relationship with Relatives and Friends, the Role of Equality, Coherence of Faith. Totally 1280 questionaries were released and 1170 replied .The replied rate was 91.4%.3 The data were inputted the Excel data-base and were analyzed by using SPSS 13.0 statistical software. stratification analysis, T test; analysis of variance, Correlation analysis were applied according to general status (including different age, professional title, culture degree, department, the grade of hospital, nature of hospital). There was statistically significant if lateral P < 0.05, all datas are presented as mean±SD.Results 1 There were significant difference between nursing staff in Tangshan and norm in 11 dimensionalities of marital quality(P<0.01). 2 Comparison of family function and marital quality of nursing staff according to different influencing factors.(1) The family function of nurses in different age group: the oldest is forty-four years, the youngest is twenty-four years, mean age is thirty-five. According to age group, there was significant difference only in Affective Responsiveness dimensionality of family function(P<0.01).(2) The marital quality of nurses in different age group: there were significant difference in five dimensionalities including the Communications between Husband and Wife, Ways of Solving Conflict, Arrangements of Incomes and Recreational Activities and Character Compatibility(P<0.01 or P<0.05).(3)The family function of nurses in different professional title: there was significant difference only in Roles dimensionality(P<0.05).(4) The marital quality of nurses in different professional title: there was significant difference only in Belief Consistency dimensionality(P<0.05). (5) The family function of nurses in different culture degree: there was significant difference only in Affective Responsiveness dimensionality(P<0.05).(6)The marital quality of nurses in different culture degree: there were significant difference in two dimensionalities including Communications between Husband and Wife and Ways of Solving Conflict(P<0.01).(7) The family function of nurses in different department: there was significant difference only in Behavior Control dimensionality(P<0.05). (8) The marital quality of nurses in different department: there were significant difference in four dimensionalities including Arrangement of Incomes, Recreational Activities, Children and Marriage and Belief Consistency(P<0.05 or P<0.01).(9) The family function of nurses in different hospital grade: there were significant difference in four dimensionalities including Communication, Roles, Affective Responsivenes and Behavior Control(P<0.05).(10) The marital quality of nurses in different hospital grade: there were significant difference in six dimensionalities including Excessive Idealization,Ways of Solving Conflict,Character Compatibility, Communications of Husband and Wife,Recreational Activities, Arrangement of Incomes(P<0.05 or P<0.01 ).(11) The family function of nurses in different hospital nature: there were significant difference only in Behavior Control(P<0.05).(12) The marital quality of nurses in different hospital nature: there were significant difference in two dimensionalities including Communication between Husband and Wife(P<0.05)and Ways of Solving of Conflict(P<0.01).3 Correlation analysis: There was negative correlation between family function and marital quality(r=-0.11～-0.46, P<0.01). Conclusions1 The family function of nursing staff in Tangshan is moderately level, the marital quality is relative lower than norm.2 The family function and marital quality to offer depress tendency along with age and professional title heighten. The family function and marital quality in university group are better than low-culture group. Nursing staff in hospital of three grade A is lower than special hospital's.3 There are significant negative correlation between family function and marital quality in Tangshan's nurses. The more family function, the more marital quality.
