Study And Realization Of Distributed Multimedia Teaching Suppori System(1)

Distributed Multimedia Teaching Support System is a platform that supports other multimedia teaching software to run on Local Area Network. This system is used to make a virtual network-teaching class, so that teacher and students from different place can join to the virtual class at the same time. Teacher can show his courseware on the class, this courseware is made from HTML or VRML files. Students can also see the courseware and can hear the teacher's voice, and even can see the image of the teacher at the same time. This system offers students and teacher free control and high level of interactivity. Students can raise hands, make speech, and have discussions. In short, this system offers good tools and environment for distributed network teaching. The system runs on Windows98, Windows NT and Window2000 system. It抯 developed by using Visual C++, and together with COM technology, DirectX 7.0 SDK. This paper introduced, the whole process of design, develop and implement of the Distributed Multimedia Teaching System by focus in Voice Transmission Over Net using Double-buffered technology, MPEG-1 streaming technology and AV broadcast using AV8 SDK. We hope our research will be helpfttl to multimedia teaching projects.
