In our country, there have made great progress in mathematical skill. But the research has drawn a little attention compared with others in this field. . Although some experts have learned that mathematical skill played a major role in learning knowledge and developing mathematical ability. It is a fact that we did not have systematic research on mathematical skill. It is a pity to all of us.In this paper, the author tried to give a full introduction and studies on mathematical skill. It is begin with understanding of mathematical skill. There have different ideas on this point, such as ability idea, knowledge idea, etc. The common concept is: in the process of mathematics study, the movement or intelligent movement through exercise. Although different country has different ideas on this point, most of them concern on calculate, reasoning and draw pictures. With the development of science, the students need to mast more skill on mathematical communication, handle mathematics information, etc. There are also some research on the composition and change of mathematical skill, the characteristic of learning on it. The second part of this paper is experiment. The first experiment engaged in improving the efficiency of learning skill. It is concluded that(1) It is feasible to improve the efficiency of learning on skill by reforming teaching.(2) We agree that there should have some exercises to develop mathematical skill. Most important of all is to give priority to the development of systematic teaching,,(3) We'd better put more knowledge of metacognition in teaching,,The second experiment is studying what the example of exercises will do on learning skilL It is conclude that(1) The examples have effect on transfer of ski 11 .(2) The key to transfer is the cognition of condition.(3) The way of this teaching give students more information to go beyond the scope of surface.The third part of this paper gives some discussing about mathematical skill.
