Resveratrol (Res) is a plant antitoxin, which is produced by infecting of fungus, shining on ultraviolet ray or the condition of pathology. As a powerful antioxidant, Res may protect DNA, seize free radical, adjust the metabolism of arachidonic acid, denature carciongen and mutation matter, inhibition lipid peroxidation. Moreover, Res has the function of facilitating blood serum lipids, resisting the injure of radiation, retard aging. Then, Res had well applied value in many fields such as foodstaff, medicine, health and cosmetics, etc. Many studies show that exercise can cause body to produce lots of free radicals that will attack cellular membrane system, arouse oxidative stress, result in the damages of structure and malfunction of cells. NO has double sides and normal production of NO in body may act as protection, excessive production of NO may form ONOO", which has evil toxicity, may arose nitrostive stress. It can cooperate with oxygen free radicals to aggravate tissues impaired. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Res on rats growth, free-radical-defense system, ATPase activity and other biochemical indices and propose some reference for the development and exploration of Res in the field of the exercise medicine as sports food and beverage.The exercise-trained male SD rats models were set up by progressing intensive endurance treadmill training. The coefficient of the heart and Liver were tested to investigate the effect of Res on the growth of the athletic rats. The indices in serum ALT, AST, CK, LDH, ALP, TP, ALB, BUN were tested to reflect organisms function and the metabolism of protein. The activity of SOD, NOS and their isozymes, GSH-Px,CAT and the content of MDA and NO were measured that reflect the levels of oxidative stress and nitrostive stress. The activities of ATPase were measured to reflect the effect of Res on ion transport enzymes.The results show, 1) Res don't affect badly the growth and development of the rats. 2) The contents of Hb, glycogen in liver and myocradium are higher prominently in Res+exercise group than simple exercise, which infered that Res can delay fatigue happening and promote performance of the exercise and accelerate recovery after exercise. 3) Res can reduce significantly the destroy of liver and myocardium in rats caused by intensive endurance exercise which is showed the activity of ALT, AST, LDH, CK, ALP in the serum of Res+exercise group are lower evidently than in exercise group. 4) The contents of BUN in the serum is lower prominently in Res group than in control group, however, the content of TP and ALB are display oppositely, which indicate Res can help to reduce excessive useness of protein during exercise, maintain the muscle strength, and delay the exercise fatigue happening. 5) Res indicates the prominent performance of lipid antioxidation and clearing the free radicals in all the tissues of the heart, liver, kidney, brain and muscle, which cue Res can decrease the damage of oxidative stress body. 6) Res can reduce redundant NO caused by intensive endurance exercise, enhance cNOS activity and decrease iNOS activity, which hint Res can retard the harm of nitrostive stress to body and be beneficial for adjusting the balance of endocrine situation. 7) Res can improve ATPase activity in intensive endurance rats which suggest Res has important significance to remain osmotic pressure balance and crossing membrane potential. At the same time Res may maintain intracellular calcium status balance which can delay the exercise fatigue and the delay-onset-muscular soreness happening.The conclusion: Res has the strong a;tion on antioxidant, clearing the free radicals and regulating the balance of oxidative stress and nitrostive stress, and maintaining the one of intracellular and extracellular ion. It can better some harmful effects of intensive endurance exercise on the body and promote the capability of exercise, retard the exercise fatigue happening.
