In the modern distance education, experiment learning and teaching(EL&T) is different from theory teaching. A lot of theory courses are delivered through remote multimedia; And the basic point of the experiment is that students must be take part in it personally, so as to theory learning in distance education, It is a close quarter . In this way, incompatible state in distance education is produced between experiment teaching and distance teaching mode. So how to change these kinds of state and process distance experiment teaching in modern distance education is one subject with challenge.To traditional experiment teaching, distance experiment teaching is not limited by space-time. It receives the extensive concern with its security, interaction and opening. In recent years,multimedia technology, network technology and virtual instrument technology develop rapidly. And designing the virtual lab becomes possible through network.Distance experiment teaching has already become an important part in distance education studies.Virtual experiment is a kind of experiment mode that produce and develop reling on "virtual reality" technology . What is called virtual reality technology is one integrated technology. It fully utilize the high-performance computer hardware or software resources and all kinds of advanced sensors. Main technology consists of real-time three-dimensional figure making technology, interactive multi-sensor technology and high-resolution show technology, etc. Virtual reality technology can turn into the real-time, virtual environment with three-dimensional information. Experimenters can manage and interact with virtual environment as with the environment in true world.The Virtual experiment was generally carried on through the virtual laboratory. What is called virtual laboratory is one kind of experimental system that is suitable for carrying on virtual lab by virtual reality technology. It include correspondinglaboratory environment, relevant experiment instruments and equipments, experimental subjects and experiment information resources, etc. Virtual lab can be a certain virtual realization of real laboratories or imaginary ones. In the virtual laboratory, an experimenter feels that he seems to be earring on the real experiment in real lab.To carry on maximum simulation to actual experiment teaching, experimental facilities, experiment environment and experiment phenomenon must be simulated. At the same time, virtual lab must deal with interaction between experiment environment and experimenter. The virtual lab must make the correct reflection that responds to right or wrong actions of experimenter. This should be an interactive system. But, because of various kinds of restriction of factors, investigator are inclined to study concrete application of concrete technology among the system at present. For example, how utilize VRML language to develop virtual instruments and virtual experiment environment, etc. Few people would like to study each function of each module of the architecture, the key technology that is adopted in the system and connection mode among all modules. So development of virtual experiment have not one instruct mode. It only can be processed by computer software developers. The virtual experimental system developed lacks the commonability too.This article analyses much experiment teaching of different nature and abstract the normal produce, characteristics and requests of experiment courses in this way.
