The Education Of Studying Abroad In Late Qing Dynasty And The Adaptation Of Modern Science

The education of studying abroad in late Qing Dynasty is a great event in the history of cultural exchange between China and the West, and also the beginning of modern science being adapted to the local circumstance in China. Based on great amounts of materials and related detailed analyses, this thesis gives a summary study on the origin and process of education of studying abroad in late Qing Dynasty, especially its influences to the adaptation of modern science and the spirit of scientism from the West to China. In the end, this paper analyses some drawbacks of the movement, and tries to offer some revelation for nowadays.
