| We are facing a time of rapid knowledge renewal. swift development of science and technology as well as information torrents. We must obtain large quantities of useful information through unceasing study and reading is a major means of getting information, especially for high school students. They are accepting basic education and must learn the correct methods of acquiring language information. However, traditional way of reading "has held up talented Chinese people from one generation to another in addition to the progress of Chinese society".[1] Therefore, we must transform our thought and way of reading teaching. The author of this paper thinks that the teaching theory of Constructivism, which sprang up in the 1990s, offers a new theory basis for reading teaching. We can use the teaching theory of Constructivism as a frame to reestablish the image of reading teaching and improve students' ability of reading texts.Constructivism thinks that learners do not acquire knowledge through teachers. Instead, with the help of others including teachers and learning partners, they obtain it by making use of necessary learning materials and constructing the meanings. The purpose of text reading is to gain information by understanding. This paper combines the reading teaching characteristics of texts and elaborates the reading teaching theory of Constructivism. What's more, it puts forward the design principles of reading teaching concerned with Constructivism and annotates reading teaching pattern of Constructivism based on concrete teaching examples. |
