Content: It has always been troubled and is still troubling educators that how they could do anything to motivate students and teach them how to learn, therefore help them build self-regulated learning abilities. Hence, many theories concerning self-regulated learning and corresponding training models came into being. Based on previous theories and training models on self-regulated learning, this article presented a new training model on how to build students' capabilities of self-regulated learning and improve their academic performance, which integrated goal setting training with lexical learning strategies training. The results showed that there lied significant difference in the improved self-regulated learning capabilities among the combined training group, goal setting training group, lexical learning training group and controlled group, but no significant difference between goal setting training group and lexical learning strategies. Compared with the controlled group, the English performance has been improved a lot after experiment for the training groups, while no significant difference could be found among the three training groups.
