Content: As Internet became increasingly popular in China, Web surfing has also entered the middle and high school students as a trend. According to the Thirteenth Statistical Survey on the Development of Internet in China issued by China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), by the end of 2003, the number of Internet users in China had reached 79.5 million, with 18.8 percent aged 18 or under. This proportion still keeps growing currently. This thesis, based on a survey on the Web surfing among middle and high school students in the urban areas of Xinyu City, explores the influences - benefits and costs - brought about by Web surfing to these middle and high school students. Accordingly, this thesis discusses some policy implications and suggestions to deal with this issue.
