Cooperative Learning(CL), as a teaching strategy for classroom instruction and classroom management, is used in a wide variety of teaching contexts. Since the early 1990s, researchers and teachers in China have begun to pay attention to the study of CL. The author tends to apply CL to teaching writing in high schools by firstly presenting the basic theories and ideas of CL. Then after analyzing the present situation of the teaching of writing in high schools, the author introduces to us such concrete writing activities as cooperative writing, cooperative proofreading and cooperative analyzing by means of reference, talk, examples and observation. At the end of the thesis, the author reflects on some misunderstandings that might occur when applying CL to teaching writing in high schools.
